In this year’s international competition “Diskobolos 2015” of the Union of ICT Societies of Serbia, the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies, the European Economic Chamber of Trade Commerce and Industry, the International Federation for Information Processing, and the European Association of Healthcare IT Managers, the project “System for computer aid of the decisions for weaning critically ill ventilator dependent from mechanical ventilation”, developed by a team of IBPhBME scientists: Prof. Mikhail Matveev, Corr. Mem. Stefan Hadjitodorov, Assoc. Prof. Ludmila Todorova, Assoc. Prof. Vessela Krasteva, Assoc. Prof. Irena Jekova and Sen. Assist. Peter Vassilev, was awarded the prize for “Health Care”.
The system was developed and implemented with the participation of leading experts in Intensive care – Central Department of the University Multi-profile Hospital for Active Medical Treatment and Emergency Medicine “N.I.Pirogov” (UMHAMTEM), with the financial support of the Bulgarian National Science Fund and is the result of the Framework Agreement for cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) and UMHAMTEM “N.I.Pirogov” in which IBPhBME is the coordinator of behalf of BAS.
The award was presented on December 10 at a ceremony in the Old Palace, Belgrade City Assembly to Assoc. Prof. Irena Jekova, deputy director of IBPhBME and a member of the research team.
